MAGCONE

Case history

The risk of piling activities setting off an unexploded bomb (UXB) in certain areas of the UK can be relatively high. Zetica’s advanced Magcone sensor technology provided clearance from the risk of UXB on a superstore development in London.

A phased approach was utilised with pre-drilling of in-ground obstructions followed by Magcone profiling of individual pile locations.

The large number of pile locations (700) combined with a strict deadline resulted in the use of three CPT vehicles which were operating simultaneously in conjunction with five drill rigs. All works were completed on schedule enabling a detailed pile clearance plot to be issued without delaying piling operations.
