Zetica is an exciting, innovative company who is the UK’s leader in engineering and environmental geophysics. We are looking to find someone to join an exciting 3 month project. This position is ideal for someone looking to gain experience within an established company.
Our rail department receives data in image format which needs to be analysed in order to detect anomalies. No experience required as Zetica will provide comprehensive training for this role.
You need good eyesight and to be at ease and focused whilst working at a computer for 8 hours a day.
An interest in science, computers, geography, geology and physics would be advantageous for the position.
We are looking for candidates who take personal pride in finishing a job to a high standard and in a timely fashion. There are deadlines to meet so being able to demonstrate previous experience of working to deadlines would be beneficial. A person who has natural focus and diligence would take this work on with ease.
Employment in this role is on a temporary basis so might best suit a local person. Time of working is negotiable, plus the opportunity of over time is available.
Salary - £75/day, inclusive of holiday pay.

Zetica is a geophysical surveying consultancy and is looking to recruit a research scientist to help develop and improve processing algorithms for our multi-sensor trackbed scanning platforms. For information on the company, please visit the Zetica and Zetica Rail websites.
Responsibilities are likely to include:
- Data analysis
- Algorithm development and coding
- Signal processing and image processing
- Practical experiments using Zetica’s own test site facility
- Technical writing and presenting
It is essential that you have a good degree in a numerate subject (Geophysics, Physics, Maths, Computing or similar) and are comfortable programming in Matlab.
You also need to have technical knowledge of programming languages such as C++, C# and are comfortable with the basic physics/maths of wave propagation
Familiarity with some digital signal processing / time series analysis (particularly in the frequency domain) is essential, as are, good communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative whilst remaining focused.
It would be desirable for you to have knowledge of or experience in:
- Electromagnetic wave theory
- Geophysics (near surface methods)
- Image processing, computer vision
- Statistics, machine learning
- Software development processes (version control, issue tracking, testing etc.)
- Remote sensing, GIS, GNNS/inertial navigation

Zetica Ltd is looking for an experienced Geophysicist to work within our busy and successful engineering and environmental geophysics team.
Based at our Oxfordshire offices, you will need relevant experience in near-surface geophysics, ideally both site work and back-office data processing and interpretation.
You will have a working knowledge of a wide range of typical geophysical methods for the assessment and mapping of ground conditions, hazards, utility services and other shallow buried features typically related to construction or infrastructure projects.
You will have a relevant degree and ideally experience with Autocad and Geosoft Oasis Montaj. Excellent writing skills are vital to this position.
Dealing with clients, you will need to be focused on completing projects to time and budget. Most of your work will be UK based, but there will be opportunities to travel overseas for specific projects.
